Scheme
The
Nation Service Scheme is an Indian government sector public service programme
conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports of the Government of India.
The scheme was launched in Gandhiji century year in 1969. Aimed at developing
students personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association
of young people in colleges, universities and at +2 level working for a campus
community (especially adopted villages) linkage. The moto of NSS is NOT ME BUT
YOU .This reflects a sense of democratic living and upholds the need for
selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also
to show consideration for the fellow human beings . The aim of NSS is to
demonstrate this Moto in day to day programmes and to enhance students interest
regarding their social responsibilities. 24th September is
celebrated every year as NSS day with various programmes and activities. The
two NSS units (unit first for girls and unit second for boys) was established
in the college. Regular activities like health awareness programmes, swachta
pakwada, plastic free nation, road safety rules, orientation programmes etcare done.Atmost
three one day NSS camps and a seven days Special camp are also done by NSS unit
per year accordingly to the norms. The students who are part of NSS known as volunteers
and a volunteer enter into social service on his her own freewill. Ms. Meena
and Dr. Sanjay Kumar are serving as NSS Programme Officers.
There are two units of
NSS in Govt. College Julana, Jind. Approx. 100 students are working as NSS volunteers in each unit.
The motto of NSS is “Not Me -But You”. This motto reflects the need for
selfless service. The motto underlines the fact that the welfare of an
individual ultimately depends on the welfare of the society. Volunteers can make
miracles by using their creativity for spreading awareness on various issues.
